About me

I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in New York City. I am currently offering HIPAA-compliant zoom telehealth appointments in New York State or in-person sessions in my office in Union Square.

I work with adolescents, adults and couples who want to build skills to manage worry, depression, concerns about relationships, family, school, work, and their bodies. Together we work to help build lives that feel better. My therapy style is client-centered, informed primarily by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which are empirically-validated, well-researched therapy treatment approaches. I utilize Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) with couples. I regard my clients as the best experts on their own lives, and I work to help folks cultivate curiosity, compassion, and flexibility as well as building concrete coping skills.

In addition to my clinical private practice I have a part-time faculty appointment at New York University and I have taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducted research, and trained at the University of Pittsburgh, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Institute for Juvenile Research, Drexel University, Northwestern University, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I supervise doctoral graduate students at New York University. I’ve also published book chapters and multiple peer-reviewed journal articles on topics including early childhood social development, adolescent sexual health, developmental psychopathology, family conflict, military mental health and burnout. I hold a masters and doctoral degree in Clinical and Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University (where I majored in History). I live and work in downtown Manhattan and as a native New Yorker, I appreciate the diversity and complexity of the city itself, and the people who call it home.
